Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 May 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of Gameli, an online platform that helps players find each other for casual sports and games and lets venues accept court bookings. By creating an account or using Gameli, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Gameli.

2. Who can use Gameli

You must be at least 18 years old to use Gameli. The platform involves entering into venue-booking contracts, processing payments, and meeting other adults in person — all of which require the legal capacity of an adult under South African law (and equivalent in other jurisdictions). By signing up you confirm you are 18 or older and that the information you provide is accurate. You're responsible for the security of your password — don't share it, and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use Gameli to:

  • Harass, threaten, dox, or otherwise harm other players or venue staff.
  • Post discriminatory, sexually explicit, or illegal content in chats, game descriptions, profiles, or game names.
  • Impersonate another person or create accounts you don't own.
  • Make repeated no-show or late-cancel commitments. Our strike system tracks this — repeated violations limit your ability to host, join, or book.
  • Scrape, mirror, reverse-engineer, or otherwise extract data from Gameli at scale.
  • Use the platform to commit fraud, money-laundering, or any other illegal activity.
  • Circumvent our security or technical limitations.

4. Your content

You own the photos, bio, game descriptions, and chat messages you post on Gameli. By posting, you grant Gameli a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the platform (e.g. showing your game name in other users' lobby feeds). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained where other users have already interacted (e.g. a past game that included other players stays in their history).

5. Venue bookings + payments

When you book a court through Gameli, you're entering an agreement with the venue, not with Gameli. We facilitate the booking, take a 15% platform fee, and remit the rest (85%) directly to the venue's settlement bank. Cancellation, refund, and reschedule rules are governed by our published booking policy and the venue's own house rules where applicable. If a venue cancels a confirmed booking, you receive an automatic refund per the policy in force at the time of booking.

6. Strikes + suspension

Repeated no-shows, late cancellations within the cancel window, or other Acceptable Use violations may result in “strikes” that restrict your ability to host games, join games, or make bookings for a cooldown period. Severe violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your Profile. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that pose a risk to other users, with notice where reasonably possible. Termination doesn't void financial obligations already incurred (e.g. a non-refundable booking already paid for).

8. No warranty

Gameli is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. We don't verify that players who join your game will actually show up, and we don't inspect venues for safety — exercise normal caution when meeting strangers and entering venues. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Gameli disclaims liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Dispute resolution

Disputes between players (no-shows, behaviour, etc.) should be resolved between the parties first. For disputes involving payments or venue bookings, contact gamelihq@gmail.com within 14 days of the incident. For disputes involving Gameli itself, both parties agree to attempt good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal action.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes that can't be resolved by negotiation will be submitted to the courts of South Africa, which have exclusive jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. When we make material changes, we'll notify active users by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
